I’m a pretty environmentally conscious person, so I’m always tickled when I order takeout or am given a box for my leftovers, and I’m given biodegradable boxes. Heck, I’ve even seen straws and flatware made out of corn starch.
So, especially with Earth Day coming up, I was pleased so see so many restaurants in the Chicago area make the green certified list, by the Green Restaurant Association. Chicago has plenty of options for the environmentally concerned, from bars to cafes to bakeries and pretty much everything in between.
If your favorite restaurant isn’t green certified, the association has tips for encouraging other places to go green, and even ways for you to make your own dining experiences greener. Even small steps, like taking public transportation or carpooling to dinner, or bringing a reusable coffee mug, can add to make a big difference.
What do you think? Are any of your favorite places on the certified green list? How are you at making your own dining experience as green as possible?
