Left Bank at Kinzie Station is forming a team to participate in the American Cancer Society’s annual Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk – set to take on Chicago Oct. 17, 2010. If you’re game to help “give the world more birthdays” and would like to lace up some walking shoes and join us this fall, we’d love to have you.
Learn all about the walk from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 24 – that’s tonight – at Grami Bar & Grill, 160 E. Grand Ave. in River North. Stop by for free appetizers, $6 sangria (pink sangria of course, with $1 per glass donated back to breast cancer research) and a chance at some great raffle prizes.
Organizer and Left Bank resident Janae Gianou shared information on four amazing raffle options available this evening. They include:
- An 8-bottle wine tasting for up to 12 people and a private wine consultant for 2 hours
- A gift certificate to Clever Alice and a gift certificate for dinner at Panache
- A group dance lesson at Big City Swing, two tickets to Porch Light Theater and two tickets to Neo-Futurists Theater
- Two gift certificates to Dick’s Last Resort, a gift certificate to Spare Time, a kingpin party at Lucky Strike and six tickets to Zanie’s Comedy Club
Raffle tickets are $5 each or an “arm’s length” for $20. Choose one or divide up your raffle options among these packages.
So far, Making Strides for Breast Cancer has raised more than $14,000. The event is more than just a walk or a fundraising effort to promote research. It’s an inspirational annual program that aims to create a world “with less breast cancer and more birthdays.”
Top participants, teams and companies are listed on the event’s Web site here. Check it out for more information. Last year nearly 700,000 walkers across the country participated in these American Cancer Society events – and raised more than $60 million for the cause. If your life has been touched by this disease, you know there is still work to be done.
Whether you’re new to Making Strides for Breast Cancer or its an event you register for year after year, please consider joining us tonight to learn more about the Left Bank team. We’re supporting this effort to educate the public about breast cancer and to help find a cure and ensure all women have access to crucial health screenings and care.
